Carolyn Hinton was interviewed by Joseph Burns on April 5, 2022.

Biographical
Carolyn Hinton and her parents moved from a family farm in Arkansas to Vanport in 1944, when Hinton was eight years old. Her father took a job at the Kaiser shipyard, and the family lived in Vanport until the Columbia River flood in 1948.
In this interview with PSU student Joseph Burns, Hinton recalls growing up in Vanport and its differences from rural life in Arkansas; her memories of childhood activities, friends, and school; and the life-changing event of the flood.
