Volume 21, Issue 1 (2026) Preparing Future Educators
Preparing Future Educators
We are thrilled to publish three terrific articles in this issue of the Northwest Journal of Teacher Education, all of which explore the complexities of teacher candidate learning. In the first manuscript, Kaka and Kessner share research on how the noticings from social studies teacher candidates’ clinical experiences shape the pedagogy they bring into their own classrooms. In the second article, Sommers examination of candidates’ understandings—and misunderstandings—of culturally responsive teaching uncovers gaps in educator preparations. And finally, Jung reports findings from a comparison study of Special Education, elementary, and secondary teacher candidate confidence in building inclusive classrooms. All three manuscripts provide specific ways that preparation programs can refine practices to better prepare teacher candidates for their future classrooms.
