Description
I accepted my first teaching position the day Covid-19 shut down in-person learning. Yes, my one and only time on campus was for my job interview. I was given samples of how the class had run before me, but no one could train me on teaching during a pandemic. With all of the external factors affecting my students in this new learning environment, I felt an urgent need to forge a new path for the class. I was accepted into the Equity and Open Education Faculty Cohort of Summer 2020 and found my source of inspiration. This presentation incorporates my struggles as a new teacher and the silver linings I have found through the OER Community that transformed my first year of teaching from surviving to thriving.

Silver Linings: How Starting my Teaching Career During a Pandemic Led me to the OER Community
