Abstract
German documentary theater of the 1960s was political in its orientation. Its purpose was to seek clarification on a number of burning issues, foremost war crimes in a wider sense, symbolized by Auschwitz and Hiroshima, furthermore problems of revolution and imperialism, cold war and rearmament, and finally the role of the intellectual in public affairs.
