  Allen (Al) Johnson was interviewed by Sy Adler on June 2, 2017.

  Al Johnson is a retired Oregon land use attorney who founded and practiced with the firm Johnson, Kloos and Sherton (originally Johnson and Kloos) in the 1980s and 1990s. He worked as a hearings official for the Oregon Land Conservation and Development Commission in the 1970s. From 1993 until his retirement, he represented public- and private-sector clients throughout the state. After his retirement in 2010, he served as a member of the Urban Growth Boundary Residential Lands Technical Advisory Committee for the city of Bend, Oregon.

  Jim Johnson was interviewed by Michael Rupp on September 17, 2019, in Portland, Oregon.

  Johnson has been a county land use planner for Wasco County, OR, and Klickitat County, WA. He also worked for the Columbia River Gorge Commission before becoming a staff member with the Department of Land Conservation and Development, where he focused on farm and forest land protection. Johnson later became the Oregon Department of Agriculture’s Land Use and Water Planning Coordinator.

  James Knight was interviewed on April 24, 2017, by Michael Rupp.

  Jim Knight's career in public agencies spanned thirty-three years. From 1970 to 1974 he worked in Buffalo, New York, for the Erie County Division of Planning and for the Office for the Aging. In June 1974 he joined the Oregon Department of Land Conservation (DLCD), which administers Oregon's land use planning program. He retired from DLCD in March 2003.

He helped draft twelve of the first fourteen statewide planning goals and served as a field representative of the department to cities and counties throughout Oregon.

  Ted Lorensen was interviewed by Michael Rupp, Lloyd Chapman, and Jim Knight on October 20, 2017, in Portland, Oregon.

  Lorensen was an Assistant State Forester with the Oregon Department of Forestry. He was instrumental in assisting DLCD in amending Statewide Planning Goal 4 (Forest Lands) and establishing land use rules for forest lands.

  MacPherson spoke at the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Senate Bill 100 at Portland State University on May 24, 2023. His remarks are included in an accompanying PDF file.

  MacPherson is the son of former Senator Hector MacPherson, who is credited as being the main sponsor of Senate Bill 100. He was a former member of the Oregon House of Representatives and Chair of the Land Conservation and Development Commission.

Mazziotti headed the Portland Development Commission from 2001 to 2005, served as Portland’s chief planner in the 1970s and acted as chief information officer for Oregon in the late 1990s.   Nordstrom was a research geologist at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, and later became the Curry County Planning Director during the preparation and acknowledgment of Curry County’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan.

  Owens was a former Polk County land use planner and was appointed to the Land Conservation and Development Commission’s Citizen Involvement Advisory Committee. He became a partner in the planning consulting firm, Cogan-Owens-Cogan.

  Pfeiffer was a land use attorney and former Chair of the Land Conservation and Development Commission. Before becoming an attorney, he began his career as an intern with 1000 Friends of Oregon. He then became a land use planner with Klamath County and the city of Klamath Falls before attending the University of Oregon School of Law.

Puchy was a plan review specialist for DLCD and worked with the department on writing and implementing numerous statewide land use planning goals, particularly those concerning the protection of natural resources and wildlife.
